So here we are in beautiful Hawaii (actually this picture was taken in Denver, but bear with me)
#
I’m sure it’ll kick in that we are in the middle of paradise, but all I can do is think about home.
#
My life may seem like it’s all ‘put-together’ on the outside, but boy oh boy it feels like every pursuit is met with a shit storm of resistance. Like can a girl just catch a freaking break?
#
And that’s just the victim in me talking. In hindsight, I am always grateful for the hardship, but in the moment all I can do is pray that my heart stays open, because damn… it wants to close at every opportunity.
#
I’m a Christian, I have faith that He has a plan for me. Not many know this about me, but how else could I have salvaged this storm we call life?
#
Self-pity was a hard thing for me to give up. I used it for years to comfort myself when I was hurting, but faith has taught me that instead of turning inward and pitying ourselves, we should have compassion flowing out of us to other people.
#
Self-pity is a major trap that will keep us stuck in our pain. It’s the same with bitterness and resentment. It took me a long time to get past the point of thinking, That’s not fair, why do they get it all and I don’t. I was bitter and angry about my past, and I ended up taking it out on the people around me.
#
I had to decide to let go of my anger and resentment and trust that GOD will restore it all two-fold.. He alone could make wrong things right, in His way and in His timing – All I had to do was believe that.
#
So whatever you’ve gone through or wherever you are today, your pain doesn’t have the final say in your life. If your life is a fragmented mess, be determined to maintain a positive, grateful attitude, focusing on God’s blessings and the great things He is doing in your life – there’s no other way to get through it without bitterness <3
#
As you do, your PAIN will become someone else’s GAIN, your MESS will become your MESSAGE and what you’ve walked through will become someone else’s miracle.
#
You’ve got this girl – keep on keepin’ on with inward and outward love, for you are not alone, and this too shall pass. <3

(paraphrased from Joyce Meyer)
